After many coverage complaints and delays, AT&T is finally set to improve coverage in the Damonte Ranch and Zolezzi Lane area. Antennas for an AT&T cell site were approved last week which are to be located on the existing 80-foot monopole behind Wal-Mart on Damonte Ranch Parkway.
The location currently has antennas for Cricket, Clearwire and Sprint PCS.

“…Verizon Wireless customers in more Nevada locations can now get e-mail, real-time corporate data, access to the Internet and much more at faster speeds. As the company rolls out its high-speed broadband network today, coverage now extends to:
• Elko, Ely, Hawthorne, and Reno – including Interstate 80 and Highway 50 between Reno and Sacramento, as well as the area surrounding Lake Tahoe.
Based on CDMA 1x Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev. A) technology, the expanded wireless broadband network provides Verizon Wireless customers with data uplink speeds significantly faster than the company’s award-winning national EV-DO network, which the company first launched in northern Nevada in December, 2006…”

I just noticed a recently installed Sprint cell site above McCarran & Skyline in west Reno. This cell site fills a previous dead zone along the busy McCarran Blvd. corridor between Cashill Blvd. and Manzanita Lane.

It was recently confirmed that Edge Wireless, an AT&T affiliate, has co-located a cell-site near the intersection of Hwy 395 and Highway 70 north of Reno. This intersection is also referred to as Hallelujah Junction. Earlier this year antennas were co-located on an existing monopole that provides Verizon coverage in the area. This new Edge Wireless cell site provides AT&T customers roaming coverage in a previous dead zone around the area.

The AT&T cell site across from the Grand Sierra Resort has been moved once again. Earlier this year the site was moved a few hundred yards west to make room for a new Wal-Mart that will be constructed on the site. In the past few days a new pole has been placed atop a billboard on the property next to Hwy395, and additional antennas have been installed vertically on the pole.
In the picture you can see the temporary and permanent antenna structures. The top of the temporary antennas are even with the bottom of the billboard, and just to the left of it – barely “seeing” above the freeway structure. The new, permanent pole extends above the top of the billboard. With the added height and additional antennas, this site should also increase coverage inside Renown Medical Center’s new expansion.

Thank-you! Thank-you!
We decided on Cingular wireless for our cell-phones based on this site and recommendation from a friend… We live in Fernley and needed good coverage in Reno, Fernley, and Fallon…The only place we have yet had no signal is deep inside the Fallon Walmart (standing inside the front door by the snackbar gave a strong enough signal to use our new Nokia phone). We had older AT&T service previously that was almost useless in Fernley and Reno and especially in the I-80 canyon between Fernley and Reno (mostly in the canyon our phones showed “no Service”). We are now able (with our new Cingular phones and service) to talk all the way through the canyon with absolutely NO dead spots!) It is also the same in Fernley and Fallon and all along Alt 50 between them.
I hope this info on our experience will in some way help with your site! You are providing a great and needed service to this area!
Thanks again, R.S.

I recently tested a Motorola V505 flip phone… …where our Nextels barely worked. The V505 is a Quadband phone and it seemed to pickup a signal in more locations. It did have some trouble but by simply walking around a little, I found a strong signal to make a call. We then purchased 8 V180 Quadband phones for our company, and switched from Nextel to AT&T Wireless… .
Thank you, D. M.
