Verizon Wireless completes coverage improvements for commuters and residents along Mt. Rose Hwy
Verizon Wireless recently completed coverage improvements along the Mt. Rose Highway stretching from Wedge Parkway in Reno on the east, to Tahoe Meadows near the Mt. Rose summit on the west. Improvements in the past year include the installation of 4 new cell sites along the Mt. Rose Highway corridor and improvements to an existing cell site atop Slide Mountain.
New cell sites include:
- Sky Tavern ski area (at the summit)
- New site serving the Saddlehorn/Arrowcreek/Whites Creek area
- Mt Rose Hwy & Wedge Pkwy
- NDF Galena Fire Station – new taller monopine with room for 3 carriers replacing existing monopine.
New monopine on distant/right with Verizon Wireless and AT&T antennas. T-Mobile will locate on the bottom position.

What about the Damonte Ranch area, specifically, The Regency at Damonte Ranch neighborhood? We have terrible cell coverage, and I mean TERRIBLE. I hope soon, because I am paying too much for my plan for lousy cell phone coverage.

Fortunately a new Verizon cell site is nearing completion- located next to the fire station at Steamboat Pkwy & Veterans Pkwy.

How about Callahan Ranch area off Mount Rose – will any of the new towers improve service to that area? The only way service is available now is if you stand in one spot in the house- if you move, you lose!

The new and updated towers at the NDF fire station and atop Slide Mountain have improved coverage in the Callahan Ranch area. If you’re still having issues, I’d suggest turning on Wi-Fi Calling on your phone. https://renowirelessinfo.com/2016/11/how-to-improve-wireless-cell-coverage-at-home/
